No longer let Windows 10 decide for you by choosing the software used by default to open your documents.
Windows 10 is configured to natively use certain programs to open files on your computer. Unfortunately, it is very likely that in your personal usage habits, you do not use these programs. This is, for example, the case with web pages.
When you click on a link received by email, Windows will open it with the browser configured by default, namely Edge, Microsoft's browser. While advanced users have no problem fixing this issue, it can quickly become annoying for those less comfortable with their PC, especially if they are using another web browser.
To avoid this kind of insult, it is possible to choose in the operating system settings, the software to use by default to open files, documents and other web pages. Here's how.
1. Open settings
Go to Windows 10 Settings. You can access it by clicking on the Start menu, then on the cogwheel.
2. Access the Applications menu
Then enter the section dedicated to Applications, then, in the left column, enter the Default Applications menu.
3. Change the default applications
Windows displays a list of all applications used by default in the OS. Click on one of them and then, from the list of suggestions made by Windows, choose the application that you are used to using.
Once all the default applications have been chosen, close Windows 10 settings. Now your PC will automatically open documents, files and web pages with the software you have defined in Windows 10 settings.
