Facebook recently introduced a new feature in its Messenger app on iOS and Android. Users can now share their device screen with loved ones during a call.
After first offering it on desktop, Facebook began rolling out a screen sharing feature on the mobile version of its Messenger application a few days ago. The feature, available on both iOS and Android, allows users to share content displayed on their device's screen during a video call with loved ones.
Very convenient, screen sharing can be used for many reasons: to help your loved ones use their device by guiding them, to give a presentation during a meeting, to go shopping online with others, and much more. Here's how to use it.
1. Start a video call
Open Messenger on your device, start a conversation and start a video call with one or more loved ones.
Once the call screen is displayed, drag the bottom bar to the top of the screen.
2. Share your screen
Once the lower pane is deployed, press the Share your screen button. A Start Recording or Broadcasting with Messenger window appears.
Tap Start to initiate sharing your screen in the conversation.
3. Turn off screen sharing
You can now go about your business during the video call by quitting Messenger and browsing your smartphone in another app.
All content and operations performed from your smartphone screen are now visible to all video call participants.
To end video sharing, open Messenger again to access the video chat, and tap the Stop sharing button.
